Lamar Elks Lodge 2800 Sponsors BCHD Cribs for Kids Program Launch in 2024

Lamar Elks Lodge 2800

For the last 150+ years Elks Lodges have been places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up. Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, meet the needs of today’s veterans, and improve the overall quality of life by impacting over 2000 different communities across America. Lamar Elks Lodge 2800 made possible the BCHD Cribs for Kids partnership by presenting BCHD with a grant of over $3,000 from the Elks National Foundation. This grant allowed BCHD to cover the start-up costs for the program and purchase safe sleep solutions for the local community! If you would like to get involved with your local Elks Lodge projects, email Project Manager Catherine Pierson at cathydstout@gmail.com or visit www.elks.org/enf/community.

Cribs for Kids

Since 1998, Cribs for Kids has been providing safe-sleep education to families with the intervention of a safe, portable crib to those who cannot otherwise afford a safe place for their babies to sleep.  Cribs for Kids was founded so organizations, whose mission is to reduce infant mortality through the elimination of sleep-related deaths, would have a resource to help them accomplish this very important goal. “Helping Every Baby Sleep Safer,” is their tagline and by educating all caregivers about the infant safe sleep guidelines, Cribs for Kids’ goal of helping all babies celebrate their first birthdays will be realized. By partnering with Cribs for Kids BCHD has aligned themselves with this goal and is now able to provide education and safe-sleep solutions to families that do not have a safe-sleep place for their child. Qualifying applicants must be a BCHD or WIC client, attend a short qualifying safe-sleep education class, and most importantly not already have a safe place for their baby to sleep. If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, please give us a call today at 417-682-3363 to arrange services.
