Fit Mama Project: February

Is it Spring yet? I’m sure this thought has crossed many of your minds as this winter weather gave us a great tease for a few weeks. There were a few days there that I felt this sense of life flood back in me. The desire to be outside and do all the things Spring brings. I hadn’t realized how dreary my days had become in these dark days of winter, and how much my soul needed and craved the sunshine and outdoor life. And here we are, back to the cold temps and snow with more to come. We tend to get the worst of our winter at the end of the season, nothing like going out with a bang for the Show Me State!!

I’m enjoying my membership at Girlfriends Fitness Center. I’ve been going 3 to 4 times per week. They have a challenge going, with several ways to get members involved. The more ways you get involved the more times your name goes in the drawing for that weeks’ prize, which has been helpful to me, and many others. Puts a little extra pep in your step and gives you more things to look forward to, and if we’re honest with ourselves, we all need that little push wherever it may come from every once in a while. It is also nice to be in controlled temps while working out and getting my miles in, but nothing beats walking outdoors with scenery to enjoy. So come on Spring!! =D

My pregnancy is going well, and I am now 23 weeks. My last ultrasound appointment a few weeks ago, they sent me to Perinatology, and I didn’t realize what that entailed until I got to the office. I thought how odd; they sent me to a different location in the Freeman Women’s Health building than what I normally go to. My Midwife at Freeman never did explain what Perinatology was, so of course, I started googling what it meant. And almost always when consulting “Google University” it can tend to make one nervous. Perinatology Ultrasounds are for high-risk women. They are a more in-depth sonogram to detect birth defects. My initial blood work in the beginning showed that I was low risk, which they assured me, was normal, with my age. Then once I started to realize this would be the moment I would know for sure if something was wrong, fear started to creep in. I reminded myself; “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7), prayed and gave it over to God. The process took quite a while, as they had to get 80 images! It is always interesting to watch how the tech can make out what looks like swirls and blobs on the screen. Some parts/organs are obvious as to what they are, but other times it is just puzzling to me. The tech was very thorough and then the doctor came in to go over all the images and talk about my prior pregnancies and births. He went through all the points from head to toe that they look for in a baby and she did not check any of the boxes! She is perfect! What a relief to know! HalleluYah!!

Lastly, I want to leave you with this, a comforting reminder, just like God saved Sarah and had her bring forth a child at 90 years old. That no matter how old you are, if it is God’s will that you bring forth another child, do not worry, for His word is a comfort to us and says, “Yet she will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in the faith and love and holiness, with self-control.” 1 Timothy 2:15

The LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did to Sarah as he had promised. And Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age at the time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah born, Isaac. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.” And she said, “who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.” Genesis 21:1-7

Until next time, much love and happiness to you!!
