BCHD Attends Medical Countermeasures Training

Kristy Runion and Diahn Hayden attended the Medical Countermeasures: Point of Dispensing (POD), Planning and Response MGT-319 training in Springfield, MO on October 29 and 30.

The training course is designed to enhance jurisdiction preparedness and emergency response efforts by providing knowledge of how to exercise and revise a plan that utilizes an all-hazards, whole community approach toward a medical countermeasures event. Plus, it further provides information on the coordination of planning, training, and responding to a Medical Countermeasure (MCM) response for a public health incident. Specifically applicable to pandemic influenza, bioterrorism, and other public health emergencies. The course responds directly to the National Preparedness Goal as it applies to delivery of medical countermeasures to exposed populations, is offered through TEEX, and is funded by DHS/FEMA.

As a result of attending this training, both Kristy and Diahn are better prepared to lead BCHD in appropriate response to future public health incidents. We are thankful to the class leaders and TEEX for offering this class. If you are interested in learning more about the class or signing up yourself, please see the class information here: Medical Countermeasures: Point of Dispensing (POD), Planning and Response | TEEX.ORG.
